How do I know if SmartCUT is right
for me?

An evaluation
version of SmartCUT is available for free
downloading
from this web page. The best way to determine
if SmartCUT is for you is to use it. We
encourage you to evaluate SmartCUT prior
to making a financial investment.
- Only you can decide if SmartCUT has
the right set of features for you
- The evaluation copy of SmartCUT is fully
functional.
The only limitation is the number of parts
that can be optimized at once, which is
30 parts.
- It is your responsibility as a user
of software distributed as Shareware/Freeware
to evaluate the product to verify that
SmartCUT meets all your requirements

How do I install SmartCUT?

Download
and save the automated installation program
to your computer. Then click on the install
file, SmartCutPro2_setup.exe to install
SmartCUT. SmartCUT will run properly only
after being installed from the installation
program. |

How is the Commercial version different

Can I use inches instead of millimeters?
|
- You can use any measurement unit with
SmartCUT
- You can use inches, mm, cm, dm, M, or
feet
- SmartCUT let you enter project dimensions
in one unit and display them in a different
unit. (For. ex.: enter dimensions in mm
and have them displayed in inches)
To change the measurement units select
Options - > Settings from the main menu.
Then choose the "Units" tab and
make your selection. |

Can I specify my custom material
types?
|
| Yes. You can add your custom material types.
To add a new material type or to edit existing
ones select Edit -> Materials from the
main menu. |

How do I calculate the cutting layout?
|
| Highlight the project name you want to optimize
by clicking on it, then click the "Optimize"
button or the F7 key. SmartCUT's optimizer
will be activated and produce the cutting
layout. |

How do I change the Saw Kerf thickness?
|
| From the main menu select Options ->
Settings. On the "Panels and Parts"
tab, Saw width is one of the inputs in the
window. |

Can I print part labels?
|
| SmartCUT can print labels for parts, panels
and usable offcuts. To print labels select
"Labels" tab in the main window
and select the label style you want to use
from the available label styles list. You
can also define your custom label appearance. |

Can I specify the Grain Direction
for each part individually?
|
| SmartCUT has a very flexible grain control
system. You can specify the grain direction
for each individual piece by checking / unchecking
the checkbox under the "Turn" column..

Can I use different panel sizes
in a job?
|
| Yes. You can use many different size panels
in a single job. You can also use different
materials in a single job, FPY-PSF and MDF
Board for example. |

My computer crashed. How do I reinstall
SmartCUT?
|
Download
the installation file to your new or repaired
computer
Install SmartCUT using the downloaded installation
file as you did originally.
Unlock the software by entering your name
and registration key in the "Register"
dialog window.
To open the "Register" dialog
window select Help -> Register fro mthe
main menu.
If the unlock code changed and your registration
key no longer works to unlock the software,
please contact us at sales07@rasterweq.com.
Please include the following information
in your email so that we can get you operational
ASAP:
- Your share-it! order reference number
( you received it during the ordering
process )
- The unlock
code currently displayed on your computer.
You will not be charged for the new license
key as long as you can provide us your share-it
order reference number. |

How do I make a backup of my data?
|
| Simply copy the folder "Db" as
a back up. The database folder should be located
under the application's root folder, "C:\Program
Files\SmartCUTPro 2\Db" in a default
installation. |

I'm having trouble importing an
.CSV file
|
To correctly import panels or parts data
from a .CSV file, the .CSV file needs to
have the following format:
- for panels
Qty,Material,Length,Width,Description
Sample line for a panels .CSV file (column
names should not be added
in the first line):
2,MDF,3660 mm,1830 mm,Sample panel
-
for parts
Qty,Material,Length,Width,Turn,Description
Sample line for a parts .CSV file (column
names should not be
added in the first line):
5,MDF,1200 mm,750 mm,Y,Sample part
